BPRS patients are admitted under the care of Dr Tarunisha Sharma and the Director of the program, Dr Saul Geffen. All doctors are rehabilitation physicians, who will be assisted by other medical, allied health and nursing clinicians.
There are six to ten patients in each BPRS program. While everyone comes with a different history and diverse injuries, the common factor is chronic pain that affects every facet of their lives.
BPRS addresses the causes of pain, the associated physical de-conditioning, and the psychological and occupational issues complicating the management of pain. The goal of the program is to provide patients with strategies to deal with their pain and to return to a more functional life. A return to work strategy is also included if required.
Sessions are delivered at Brisbane venue, Canossa Private Hospital in Oxley. Sessions include lectures from the various disciplines, therapeutic exercise, hydrotherapy and individual consultation where necessary.
